Our Day Today

Take note of how he holds one arm out when he spins.
He keeps his eyes strongly fixed on that arm as he twirls around--is the point to keep himself from becoming dizzy?

Today was a stay-at-home day.
With the temp in the single digits overnight we never got enough warmth for the boy and I to venture out for a walk. In honesty I don't think I could write that I enjoyed being inside. I just didn't mind it as much as I often do.

We both, and Daddy too, got good night's sleep and woke up ready to welcome anything good that could happen! And possibly take not so good things with humor.

Deeder's big things today were spinning, as seen above, and poking poor Mommy's tummy (which I promise will never be seen above). I've grown quite a bit this week and he thinks its all for his personal entertainment!

Like this morning, I was sitting innocently reading the paper and munching on some strawberry jam toast and next thing I know I have this little kid at my knees giggling insanity and poking my belly! The little stinker snuck up on me under the table! Can you believe that?

He wouldn't even leave me alone during story time. I wore a big sweatshirt hoping to keep him away, but I guess the decreasing amount of lap room for him constantly reminds him that mommy has a BIG tummy.

That was pretty much our day. And we ate. We always eat a lot!

Seven o'clock finally rolled around. I folded laundry and loaded the dishwasher then started wiping the counter, those are the things that happen before we go upstairs to get ready for bed. Deeder was sitting on the couch reading one of his doggie books. As I was rinsing out the washcloth and going for the broom to sweep up he suddenly looked up, slammed the book closed with a satisfying clap and hopped down. "Mom! Oggie!"
I think I said, "Yes, honey, there are lots of doggies in that book, aren't there?"

He ran over to the shoe rack and pulled down my shoes and brought them into the kitchen. "MOM! OGGIE!!" I told him to put the shoes back--which he did. He was over there for a little while then came back with one of his rubber boots on and the other in his hand. He was walking really awkwardly because the boot was on the wrong foot and caught up on his pant leg.
It finally dawned on me that he wanted to go outside and see Daddy's doggie. I told him that this wasn't a good idea because there was ice on the ground and the sun had gone to bed.

But it was when he got his jacket down and found his hat that I had to comply. Who cares about ice anyway??

Out we went, all bundled up and let that Oggie out. I had to hold Deeder because Oggie isn't very fond of him. He completely enjoyed watching her leave her yellow marks all over the snow. Sometimes I think she intentionally leaves her marking where our land lady will see them! Of course I don't care enough to follow the dog around and scoop up the pee marks.

After we put the dog back in the garage I let Deeder dance in the moonlight for a few minutes. He didn't mind falling, since he's not very tall he didn't get hurt like mommy would if she fell. It was 7:45 when we were finally in our kitchen again.
Deeder would have loved to stay out longer.

Today I was noticing how lovely Deeder smells. He still smells like a baby to me...
Mmmmm.

Tomorrow is Daddy's day off. I'm going to bed now. Mommy's much nicer to be around when she's fully rested. Daddy can tell you all about that!
